How to get there

THE EASIEST WAY TO GET TO MALAPASCUA is to go by air to Cebu international airport (also called Mactan airport), take the bus to Maya on the northern tip of Cebu island, and then go by boat to Malapascua. To get the whole picture you may want to check out the "Maps"-section. If you'd like to be picked up at the airport by our staff, and then transported to the island, just tell us when you make your reservation.AIR: There are several airline companies operating flights to Mactan airport outside Cebu City, including Lufthansa, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Silk Air, Philippinean Airlines and Malaysian Airlines. You can go directly to their websites from the "Links"-section. If you can't find Cebu City (or Mactan airport/Mactan island) in their online time tables, you should contact them for information about flight schedules. It's also possible to go to Manila and take a domestic flight from there, in that case you'll have many more airlines to choose between.BUS: To get to Cebu city's bus terminal, take a taxi from the airport (about 200 p. / 20 minutes if the traffic is good). D' Rough Riders air-con buses leave from Cebu city's northern bus terminal for Maya's port every hour between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m. (so does Cebu autobus), taking 3.5 hours, 65 peso per person (slightly more than one US dollar). If possible, take a direct bus to Maya (signed "Maya Bagay"), buses that make a detour to Hagnay allow for 30 minutes extra. The last D' Rough Riders and Cebu Autobus ordinary buses for the day only go to Daan Bantayan, about 5 km from Maya. From there you take a tricykle ride the last kilometres (costs about 5 p.). To make your travel as pleasant as possible, try to go early in the morning, before the heat and the traffic gets too much to handle.TAXI: To go by taxi from the airport to Maya should cost about 3,000 peso (US$57), since the taxi have to go back to Cebu city you'll have to double the normal price. To go by minibus (7-8 persons) costs about twice as much as a taxi. In the end, the price depends pretty much on how much of a barginer you are! The distance is about 120 km (75 miles). It's good to know that on the major holidays, such as Christmas Day and Easter, local traffic (including domestic flights) may not be available. As for the busride; to make your travel as pleasant as possible, try to go early in the morning before the heat and the traffic gets too much to handle.BOAT: We have our own pump boat for transport to and from Maya directly to our resort, contact our manager for more information. Also, two outrigger boats leave Maya for Malapascua daily between 10.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. (about 65 p. / person). They land at Bounty Beach on Malapascuas south eastern tip, about 600 metres from Logon Beach Resort. Chartering your own boat trip from the locals will cost you about 500 peso.
