Getting Here & Around
Motorized pedicab (tricycle, "trike") - If you hadn't
ridden one of these already on your way to the Caticlan port, you are
sure to ride one of these getting around the island as it is the most
common mode of transportation (besides walking, of course). A tricycle
is basically a motorbike with a passenger side-car and carries 3 to 4
people at a time. The usual fee is around 7.5 pesos for trips between
stations 1 to 3. Prices are higher during late hours. The fee for
traveling anywhere beyond that will vary and depend highly on your
negotiating skills. Tricycles can also be rented exclusively for your
party to tour the island at around 200 pesos.
Mountain bike/motorcycle
Virtually all spots on the
island can be easily accessed through the network of roads connected to
the main road on the island. Bikes can be rented by hour or by day from
numerous spots along the White Beach path. They are a great way to tour
the island's hills and cliffs that provide breathtaking viewpoints.
ATV
All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) provide another
very exciting way to explore the island. ATV rental shops will allow
you to rent for 300-600 pesos depending on the size of your ATV. The
largest rental shop, Best One Rentals, is located near Diniwid beach.
It is highly recommended that you have the rental company take you on
an ATV tour of the back roads of Boracay leading up to Mount Luho which
offers the best view of the island.
Horseback riding
Horseback riding is available in
for experts or beginners at the Boracay Horse Riding Stables off the
main road behind the White House Beach Resort. Hourly rates are at
about 50 pesos an hour with discounts for group bookings and for
children. We recommend booking a ride just before dawn. You'll be taken
through lush forestry up to the amazing view at Mt. Luho and downwards
to Bulabog beach where you can enjoy a full gallop as the sun rises.
Boat
There are many options available if you want
to sail around Boracay. The most traditional option is the
double-winged Paraw sailboat which can be hired at around 500-600 pesos
an hour. It can make for a very relaxing ride, especially at sunset. If
you've got a bit more to spend, however, you can catch a ride on one of
Boracay's luxury yachts. The beautiful 40-ft Tamarind yacht is
available for sunset, half day or 3 day cruises at US $20-60 with
on-board drinks. Reservations can be made at Nigi Nigi's bar at Nigi
Nigi Nu Noo's resort.
