Night Life
Here are but a few of the most enjoyable places on the beach at night.
This list can also serve as your own epic one-night party itinerary as
they are listed in order from the South end to the Northern end of
White Beach. So let's get started, shall we? Note: generally all of the
bars on the island have happy hour at around 4PM to 8PM (sometimes 5PM
to 9PM) with a buy-1-take-1 on local beer (and sometimes cocktails) at
about 60 pesos; so you'll want to get started early!
Jungle Bar
On the south end of the beach, Jungle
bar serves the infamous "F*ck You Archie" which, although called a
shot, is about as big as a pint. It's packed with practically every
alcohol imaginable and, of course, a bit of good ol' tobasco. During
full moon parties, this place kicks off with fire dancers, beer bongs
and pumping music.
Red Pirates Pub
Located near station 3, this is a
favorite of many on the island. It's a native style bar that, at night,
has a beach garden that lights up with torches and candles. Enjoy cheap
drinks and stay for the live reggae, tribal and world music. Few can
resist picking up one of the drums lying around and jamming along.
Calypso Sports Bar
The Sports Bar is a bar and
restaurant right next to the world class, 5 star PADI rated Calypso
Dive Center. As well as serving some of the best international cuisine
on the island, this is a great little place to meet new people and
fellow divers; or watch a live match with your mates on its widescreen
TVs.
Charlh's Bar
Unlike any other, Charlh's large
crescent-shaped bar is literally sitting right in the middle of the
beach. It features live acoustic bands every night with visitors
merrily singing along. Located near station 2, It's a great place to
enjoy some Tanduay Rhum and good music while sitting right by the
water.
Juice Bar
Juice bar features a wide open courtyard
that opens up to the beach with big soft couches that you will likely
have trouble leaving. Serving the finest cocktails and smoothies, this
bar caters to a good mix of locals and foreigners. It features a DJ
that spins house and sometimes R&B after midnight when it gets
really crowded and things pick up full swing.
Summer Place
Summer Place, a large native style
bar, is always a lively spot with a DJ and great live bands attracting
a big crowd. This is usually the last bar to close before dawn. Its
infamous, Sex Shooters, features six inappropriately-named shots with
mixed drinks that pack a good punch. Winners get a T-shirt and their
name on the wall. Another popular drink here is the bucket of Long
Island Iced Tea; which is exactly what it is: a big bucket of Long
Island Iced Tea. It's stuck with enough straws so you and your friends
can all enjoy the hit together.
Hey Jude
Located at D'Mall near station 2, Hey Jude
plays dance electronica grooves attracting a mix of tourists, expats
and Manila's finest. During the peak season, Hey Jude plays host to
parties sponsored by Big Fish and Slinky among others. Oh, and it
serves some great pizza & pasta.
Hobbit House
You're sure to witness a lot of
strange things in the Philippines. At this point on your beachside
bar-hopping journey, you may wonder whether or not your vision has
accurately processed the sight of Hobbits serving your drinks. This is
no illusion, however, as there is, in fact, a bar on White Beach with
architecture inspired by JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings; with midgets
waiting tables. This place caters to live folk and pop rock and serves
some great food from steaks, tacos, to local dishes. Best of all,
however, is their selection of literally 100 brands of beer from 25
different countries.
Pat's Creek Bar
This bar is located adjacent to Bom
Bom and Exit Bar; all three are great places to chill out and mingle
before heading to the bigger, louder areas. Pat's Creek features pool
tables and a small beachside stage for acoustic performances. It has
driftwood chairs on the sand for that much sought-after natural island
charm.
Bom Bom Bar
Located near D'mall, Bom Bom is a simply beautiful setup with cushions
and bamboo chairs on the sand by a beachside stage. You can sit on the
beach and be serenaded by some reggae and world music. Named after the
sound of native drums, Bom Bom is a popular attraction for artists and
musicians.
Cafe Del Mar
Cafe Del Mar's reclined, woven chairs
facing the sea, and soothing chill out music will give your night a
romantic touch. Though a little pricier, its intimate setting is hard
to resist. Lay back, order a hooka pipe and some mixed drinks while
marveling at the star-filled night sky; it's a sure win.
Chill Out Bar
Located at station 1, this bar allows
you to do just that: chill out. It's got bean bag chairs on the beach
facing the bar and some great tunes. Along with being a great place to
relax, it's got possibly the best happy hour deal on the island: three
San Miguel Lights for 100 pesos until 9PM.
Club Paraw
Are we well rested yet? You'll need to
be for our next three bars starting with Club Paraw which features a
dancefloor on the sand, a live DJ, and the Tower: a tower of mixed
drinks and tropical flavors for you and your party. Along with the club
setup, Club Paraw is complete with beachside chairs and seats by the
bar.
Guilly's Island
Guilly's probably has the most
sought-after dancefloor on the island. With R&B tunes inspiring
flowing hip movement on a packed dancefloor, things can get pretty
interesting.
Cocomangas Shooter Bar
If you've made it this far
without falling on your face, congratulations; but you have yet to face
your biggest challenge: Still Standing After 15. Well-known on Boracay
as the original culprit of many legendary nights since 1987, when
Boracay was largely untouched by commercialism, Cocomangas is not just
a bar, it's an institution. Its Still Standing After 15 challenge
features 15 different shots; and with drink names on the list like
Screaming Green Lizard and Renzo's Revenge, it is not a challenge to be
taken lightly. Winners get a t-shirt or jersey, their name and a
personal message on the Wall of Fame, and an added score to the country
they represent! Philippines currently occupies the top spot ahead of
Korea and the USA. Cocomangas is also a great place to dance the night
away on the dancefloor or on the tables.
